Let There Be Light
A precious woman in my church connect group has just been diagnosed with colon cancer. She came to the house for a time of praise and prayer and walked up to me with enthusiasm and said, "I have a verse!" A verse God had given her to cling to!
"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'” John 8:12
Cancer is certainly a darkness, but God's Word tells us in John 1:5 that the Jesus, the light of the world has overcome the dark and continues to do so.
The light keeps shining in the dark, and darkness had never put it out.
In the beginning God said, “Let there be light.” Genesis 1:3
He tells his people...
And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16
David knew to ask for the light of the Lord. This is a prayer many of us are praying in what are very dark days in our world.
Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me. Psalm 43:3
David knew where to find the light! Open the Word of God and The Way will show us the way.
Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105
Have you ever been left in the darkness. Maybe the power went out and you were left standing alone while someone went to find a solution. Maybe you live alone and have had to find your way into a dark home or unfamiliar building. The Light of the World is always with us. He never leaves us for forsakes us and will show us a way out into the light.
The past few weeks there have been more funerals in a very short period of time at our church than I can ever remember. We think of death as a dark time, but for those who love the Lord death is not dark. No, not at all. Instead we are drawn into eternal life in heaven where there is absolutely no darkness! We can say with confidence " Hallelujah! There are brighter days ahead."
The Song
Long and slow but lovely. (Doesn't start until 1 minute, but it was good to be still for a minute and come into the Presence of the Lord)
