Week 7 Pre-Game Prayer- Snap, Tackle, Pop (Touchdown!)

Pictured here are our grandson and his best friend on the football team. They are the only sophomores on the varsity.

We couldn't make last Thursday night's game and we missed a doozy.  Our son texted the play by play. After watching the highlight film the next day I titled this game:
 Snap, Tackle, Pop (Touchdown).

His starting positions are long snapper (snap) and outside linebacker (tackle). On offense he is the backup tailback and he had a chance to see how well his tail could run in the last minutes of the game and scored a touchdown (pop)!

I texted our grandson...."Ha! When the previous game is a downer, Mama Boo says, "Shake it off and move forward," but when it’s a personal best like last week I say play those highlight films over and over and file them away to show your children!"

Immediately, I thought about sin.  When we repent and seek forgiveness God is quick to forgive. It's in the past and he makes all things new and we move on with knowing God can still use us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, Acts 3:19

When we find ourselves in obedience and see the victory the Lord has won we want to tell that story again and again.

We don't deserve praise! The Lord alone deserves all of the praise, because of his love and faithfulness. Psalm 115:1

The Lord took me to the story of the prodigal son. He came home with his head down in remorse over his sin (what was lost), but the site of that son's repentant heart (what was found) brought joy, rejoicing and a big celebration from the Father.

In good times and bad God is always there and steadfast in his love, working all things for his glory.  Think how that story lives on today.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. Proverbs 28:13

In asking the Lord for a word to pray over our grandson this week it was receiver.

For now he is playing both defender and receiver as are we in our faith.

Always be ready to give a defense of the faith that is in you. 2 Peter 3:15

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24
