Purpose
This five year old finds joy in the simplest things.
My seventy year old husband quite often has pastoral visits to make at the VA. He has shared, "It's like a city! I get lost every time." Recently, after a morning of making it through the maze of buildings and elevators, with help from cleaning ladies and nurses, he was finally making his way through the lobby to head home when the man at the information desk called out, "Young Man!" My husband said at first he thought he was going to break into the song "YMCA."
Making his way to the desk the man said, "You look like a man with a purpose. That is how military men operate." My husband simply said, "Yes sir!" Actually he was on a mission. A misson to find a bathroom before his hour drive back to church.
The Bible is full of purposeful missions God sent people on and we are still being sent today.
Think about Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Daniel. They were led into some desolate places. Look what God says about David.
Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed. Acts 13:36
God has a plan for each of us today and it is not a call to fit in, but to be set apart.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21
This verse reminds me of a discussion my connect group had in regards to the election. God's purpose will prevail. He knows the heart condition, past, present and future of every candidate. He knows the changes that are coming in their lives and the choices that will come from those influences. It's all about Jesus. One day every knee will bow.
But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Psalm 33:11
AMEN!
