Confidence

Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. Hebrews 10:35-36

What situation are you facing that you would say you lack confidence?

Just this past week we had grandchildren in different cities going on their first overnight school and Young Life retreats.  It takes confidence to bunk in with other middle schoolers for the first time.  We had a 5 year old grandson going on his first sleep over that wasn't with grandparents. And as I showed yesterday a high school grandson faced giants on the football field.

As a stroke survivor I can tell you it takes confidence to take a step or try to find the right words to speak.  And all of those on our prayer lists with medical needs exhibit confidence and trust as they battle disease.

On my prayer list the past few months have been four men facing interviews as they try to find new jobs. Three of these men have young families to provide for. It takes confidence to step into an interview.

My list of widow friends has increased way too quickly.  These are some of the most courageous women I know. It takes confidence in Christ and knowledge of who God is to face doing life alone after losing a mate.

God often calls us to tasks that seem impossible so we will rely with confidence on the One with whom all things are possible!

I've shared before that every day at 3:20 my phone reminder buzzes to remind me to recite Ephesians 3:20:

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,

God has ordered this day.  We can confide in Him bringing our thoughts, doubts and fears.  Then after turning to Him, we are able to walk with confidence into the day.
