Happy NEW Year

January 1
What do Andy Griffith, best friends, mothers
and Jesus have in common?
They all love you in spite of yourself!

Sometimes I get frustrated with how Andy is always
covering for Barney's screw ups.
What a friend we have in Jesus...
he uses our mistakes to make us better.

January 1 is a date full of hope. A chance to
look out on the horizon and see everything coming
up roses. It is like the difference in the stinky
clothes going into the washer and the fresh smell of
clean laundry coming out of the dryer!

Exfoliating creme was on my wish list for Christmas.
It is amazing how smooth the process of ridding that
dead skin can make your skin feel. Repentance does the
same thing for our soul. It allows us to be comfortable
in the presence of Christ. Remember back in Luke 1 when
the fishing had dried up and Jesus tells Simon Peter to
toss out his nets again? A catch so vast it almost sinks
the boat? Simon Peter falls on his knees and says to Jesus,
Go away from me Lord; I am a sinful man!
Jesus' response is "Don't be afraid." We don't have to be
afraid to be in the presence of the Lord.
He makes us "NEW" creations over and over again!

Let's make this holiday a holy day by renewing our faith in
Christ and acknowledging He makes all things new, even us!

Let's Pray Whew, Lord, January 1, 2009!
We come before You humbly today, acknowledging You hold all
the pieces to the puzzle and will put them in place as You
see fit. Forgive us for missed opportunities, mistakes and
ruts we allowed ourselves to get stuck in last year. May we
freshen up today through the process of repentance and renewal!
May we care more about what You think of us than what others do.
May our voices sing Your praises this very moment not minding if
we are on key or not, but knowing the process of praise is key
to our complete joy! As we cheer for the New Year's Day parade and
football teams, may we get off our duffs and do a jumping jack
for Jesus! (Just made my husband do one Father, it was hysterical
and set a great tone for the day!) We don't want to miss a beat,
so 2009 will be the year we can say we stood at Jesus' feet and
got our marching orders which were oh so sweet! In Jesus Name, Amen
