To Be...Purposeful #2

This little guy's purpose is to make others feel loved!
His smile melts all hearts.

December 7

How often do we ask of life's experiences: "What is this all about God?  What are you up to?"
The element that adds to the quandary in our questioning is that we think life is all about us.
God had a plan when He created each one of us and all the plans involve bringing glory to Him.
It's not about us, it's about Jesus.

Moses was raised up for some tough times, like the Red Sea experience and wandering in the dessert,
but every predicament had a purpose pointing people to God.
"But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth."  Exodus 9:16

Moses testifies to the Presence and purpose of the Lord. We are not left to flounder around aimlessly.
"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid or discouraged."  Deuteronomy 31:8

David, a man after God's own heart, knew not only that God had a plan and a purpose for his life, but that God would make it known.

"You make known to me the path of life."  Psalm 16:11

In 1 Peter 2:9  it's exciting to read Peter's reminder of who we are:
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his (God's) possession..."  We could stop there and think..."Aren't we special."  But there is a purpose to this passage if we continue...a SO that points directly to Jesus..."so that you may PROCLAIM the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."

So, what's the purpose of this Advent season leading up to Christmas Day?  It is addressing a 100 envelops with the annual Christmas card (which I love getting), decorating until we about drop (did that) or pounding the keyboard or putting the pedal to the metal to find the perfect Christmas gift for someone and blowing our budget (guilty again)?

What if we knew our purpose was a specific appointment to talk to someone about Jesus?  If we knew  that person was lost without the Hope of Heaven and our words would make an impact?
What if we believed Proverbs 16:9 and in going we took the gospel message with us.
"We make our own plans, but the Lord decides where we will go."

What if we ask today as David did long ago...Make known to me the path of life and show me Your purpose for my life today Father in a way that brings you glory!

It is a gift from God to have been created for His purpose!  May our hearts thrill at that thought.
