It Makes Sense to Rest

These two love relaxing and appreciate cool cucumbers on their eyes.

January 2

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28

God designed the land and our bodies to be rejuvenated through rest.  He laid out the plan in the very beginning by example during His creation process.

"By the seventh day God had finished his work, and so he rested." Genesis 2:2

A great rest word is restore...which comes from the Latin word restaurare meaning to rebuild. When something is restored it is given back from a previously taken or stolen state.  This goes along with the situations we are praying for for so many related to their health!  We cry out in Jesus' name, please give back their good health Lord!

"You always heal them and restore their strength when they are sick."  Psalm 41:3

Another rest word is for weary cooks... restaurant!   How many times have you said, "Let's go out and just let someone else cook tonight!"  Restaurant comes from the French word restaurer meaning "provide food for!"

The Lord provides so much for us. Listen to Psalm 103. It makes sense to praise the Lord, Our Provider.

"With all my heart I praise the Lord, and with all that I am I praise his holy name!  With my whole heart I praise the Lord!  I will never forget how kind he has been.  The Lord forgives our sins, heals us when we are sick, and protects us from death.  His kindness and love are a crown on our heads.  Each day that we live, he provides for our needs and gives us the strength of a young eagle."
Psalm 103: 1-5

While we tend to stay in "get 'er done, go mode," it makes sense to rest in the Lord and receive all his benefits!

Lord, we come to You today bringing praises from our hearts!  Bless Your holy name! May we rest in our knowledge of You, remembering who You are. May we never forget the benefits that come from being Your children. In Jesus' Name, Amen
