Let's Laugh

Me meeting my girlfriend at the hairdresser to get her "cancer wig" styled.

Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones. Proverbs 15:30

Our grandson overjoyed with his birthday celebration.

You never know what our two youngest sons are laughing over, but it makes you laugh just to watch.

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.

Job 8:21

I live with a man who finds great joy in making others laugh. A day never goes by without laughter in our home.  Our church congregation waits on the edge of their seats, hoping for a joke before we exit church on Sunday mornings.

May the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.

Psalm 68:3

Aren't you thankful God created laughter and promises to turn our sorrows into dancing and our defeats into celebrations. He is a God who refreshes His people.

A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.

Proverbs 15:13

Years ago we were visiting a friend in Florida and he said there was a South African evangelist, Rodney Howard Browne,  holding revival services in a large church and he wanted us to come with him and see what was happening there. It was rather bizarre. He preached the Word of God and people were overcome with laughter rolling in the aisles and in their seats.  We didn't catch the spirit and were actually a little bewildered, but rejoice for all those happy hearted, joyful individuals.

Think back to my toilet paper face posted on Saturday!   Medical research shows that laughter relaxes people, boosts energy, produces endorphins and improves immunity.  It is a great ice breaker for social gatherings, and a distraction tool which can divert our attention from depressing circumstances, worries and struggles. There is such tension in our world right now we need doses of laughter for laughter reduces stress.

When our daughter was playing hymns on her harp for our friend who was a day away from her eternal home, she asked the family before she left if they had any requests.  One of the sons said,

"How about Stairway to Heaven?" That brought a chuckle and lightened their hearts.  It was not disrespectful. This young man knew where his momma was about to ascend the stairway to heaven.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,

so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

May laughter be a part of all of your days for it is a gift from God intended for good purpose.
