Because Jesus Did

My husband had the privilege of baptizing some friends of our's recently. The lake water in our cove was too low, so he used our daughter's pool.  The most precious part was this couple's grandchildren watching their grandparents make this testimony of faith. Six of our grandchildren were blessed to listen to be there as well.

Why do we participate in the act of believers baptism? Because Jesus did.

Why are we do forgive others? Because Jesus did.

Why are we to care for widows and the poor? Because Jesus did.

Why do we seek God?  Because Jesus did.

John said, “The one who says he abides in Him (Jesus) ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked” 1 John 2:6

The Bible summarizes Jesus’ ministry by the following: preaching, teaching, healing, seeking, and saving the lost, and destroying the works of the devil Matthew 4:23, 9:35; Luke 19:10, 1 John 3:8)

What does our day to say ministry look like?

I've miss placed where I first read this story about Mamie Adams. I think it was in an article by a writer by the name of  McCorkle.

"Mamie Adams always went to a branch post office in her town because the postal employees there were friendly. She went there to buy stamps just before Christmas one year and the lines were particularly long. Someone pointed out that there was no need to wait in line because there was a stamp machine in the lobby. “I know,” said Mamie, “but the machine won't ask me about my arthritis.”

Simple acts of kindness go a long way to brighten someone’s day. Even better, they express God’s love in tangible ways.  Lord fill us all up with your Holy Spirit so that our lights will shine brightly in a world that needs to see the kindness of Jesus.
