Rivers and Rulers- Proverbs 21

Celebrating birthday #1 with the one on the left and her bestie cousin 6 months old.

Combine a fictional novel I started about a scheming senator (but was led to stop because of the language and sexual content), a study on Proverbs, John Eldredge's book Moving Mountains and living in an election year and it's easy to understand why the Lord has me in full fledged pray for the leadership of our nation mode.

I felt the temptation to go to DC and prayer walk, but I'll leave that to some more mobile prayer warriors and battle from my perch on my screened porch.

Proverbs 21:1 set me off with a heart of hope and a hallelujah of what can be.

The Lord controls rulers, just as he determines the course of rivers.

Then I remembered Jesus' words- “My kingdom is not of this world."

While I long for a nation where all around evil, disease, foul language, lying, deceit, abortion, addiction abuse in so many forms, child neglect, divorce, murder, homosexuality, sexual trafficking, and the like do not exist I must remember ...Philippians 3:20-21

Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

And Colossians 3:1-4

God has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.” And again, If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

While this earthly life is temporary we should still pray like we believe in the power of prayer and that the light of Christ overcomes evil and heartache.

God you are our GOD and we praise your name and shout hallelujah because you have triumphed over the devil. He knows he is on borrowed time and he has no power to harm those of us in Christ.

May our minds stay steadfast on You and not grow discouraged by the darkness we see in this world, but instead sing praises all the day, put on Your armor and stand strong against the enemies schemes as we lift Your name on high, resisting his temptations attacks, as we encourage others in the faith to do the same. In Jesus' name, Amen
