The Typo-He Still Loves!

Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, 
just as Christ loves us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Ephesians 5:1-2

A reader of Boojoyful asked me one day, "Do you type the Scriptures in each day or cut and paste what are sometimes long passages?"  I should have inquired as to the reason she was asking, probably some of my typos, as I do usually type them out. Being a visual learner, I explained, the Word seems to implant in my heart deeper if I type or write it out.

Do you see the NIV translation "typo" in today's verse?  Reading back over it I realized there was a compound verb tense disagreement, but writing the present and past tense verbs "loves" and "gave" were accurate in that Christ is alive and currently loving us, although He gave himself up years ago.
Heading back to the NIV, I realized I had made a typo, it was written just as Christ loved us, I assume relating to the act of sacrifice on the cross.  The present tense verb just spoke loudly to me, so I began to search other translations and came across The Message, which left me quite satisfied by the active love I feel from Him today and the act of love he portrayed on the cross. 

Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents.  Mostly what God does is love you.  Keep company with him and learn a life of love.  Observe how Christ loved us.  His love was not cautious but extravagant.  He didn't love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that. 

Mostly what God does is love you! What a powerful evangelical tool!
Let's list out the life instructions left for us in this passage and challenge ourselves to enlist in this course of love.
1) Watch what God does, then do it.
2) Keep company with him and learn a life of love.
3) Observe how Christ loved us. Love like that.
