Little Surfer Girl-Be Brave and Confident

Our VA Beach granddaughter at her first surfing competition.

Be brave and confident.
2 Chronicles 32:7

My husband was assigned to preach on 2 Chronicles 32, the story of King Hezekiah, a good guy who had to deal with a bad guy.  The chapter has you face the ever present question of "Why do bad things happen to good people?"  It was an excellent sermon and can be heard on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6QLJOcTPpk, starting at the 18 minute mark.

Bible.org had some possible reasons for God allowing this good King to undergo the threat and trauma of an evil aggressor.

"1) God allows trials to motivate us to strengthen our defenses against evil. The time to get ready for trials is before they happen.

If you show yourself lacking courage on the day of distress, Your strength is meager.
    Proverbs 24:10

2) God allows trials to increase our trust in Him.

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.  1 Peter 5:7

3)  God allows trials to enrich our experience of His salvation.

Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. 2 Corinthians 1:9

4) God allows trials to humble us under his might hand.  For...

None is righteous, no, not one; Romans 3:10"

So, no matter how good we think we are, the waves of life are going to come and challenge us.  We must find our strength in the Lord and trust Him to see us through.
