We All Need Jesus

The plan is to look at some songs by Danny Gokey for the next few days unless God points me in another direction or takes me home. Danny's wife is Latino, so that is what led him to also record this song  "We All Need Jesus" in Spanish.

Let's listen to both versions and meditate on the lyrics in the English version. Then let's make the Spanish version a dedicated time of worship where we ask the Lord to check our hearts and reveal anything to us that broken and is not of Him.  We are all sinful, broken people, but our all knowing God has a plan!

Read the lyrics before you listen.

"We're so quick to point a finger We judge things from our point of view
The things that we say, the trouble it makes It hurts you and it hurts me too
This is such a fallen world we live in It's really not the way it's supposed to be
What if we could see each other different? It'd probably change everything
We're all broken people, don't we all need Jesus?
Every moment of our lives, 24, 3-6-5
Our human is equal, don't we all have our weaknеss? (Hey, hey)
Everybody makеs mistakes, everybody needs that grace
We all need Jesus, mm (Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
Don't we all need Jesus? (Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
Oh, we all, we all, we all, we all
Everybody needs a Savior Even the ones who think they don't
We've got stuff we hide (hide), deep down inside (inside)
There's so much that we don't show (mm)
Yeah, it's just a wounded world we live in (a wounded world)
It's really not the way it's supposed to be (The way it's supposed to be)
Isn't that the beauty of redemption? (Redemption) It changes everything
Chorus
From the beggar to the rich man (oh, yeah)
From the prisoner to the preacher, oh-oh
All I know is we, all need Jesus All I know is we, all need Jesus
Every man and every woman (oh, yeah yeah) Every city, every nation (every nation)
All I know is we, all need Jesus (all I know) All I know is that
Chorus

We need Jesus, need Jesus Everybody in the world need Jesus
We need Jesus, need Jesus Everybody in the world need Jesus"

What does God's Word say about brokenness.

The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.   Psalm 34:18

King David was once a broken man, and he prayed, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;  A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.  Psalm 51:17

There are some things in our lives that need to be broken: pride, self-will, stubbornness, and sinful habits, are a few examples. God's Word tells us that he breaks those who are proud and rebellious.

We saw that need in the life of Pharaoh, who was not a man after God's heart, but all about his power. He enslaved the Israelites for his gain.  God used 10 plagues to get Pharoah's attention: water turning to blood, frogs, lice, flies, livestock pestilence, boils, hail, locusts, darkness and the killing of firstborn children. God will make a way and set His people free.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

God takes what is broken and what we may see as worthless and transforms it into something beautiful, something better and useful that He can use for His glory

Jesus' body was broken for our sins.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.  Isaiah 53:5

When we allow ourselves to be broken, repentant and surrender to Christ admitting we all need Jesus restoration occurs!

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me

To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners... Isaiah 61:1
