Be An Influencer

Caught in the action of influencing. My husband was caught on camera randomly praying over some students.

One of our sons has his doctorate in creative writing and a passion for teaching English.  He has shared how many high school students come into his classroom unable to write complete sentences.  A by product of growing up texting. We were also discussing the frustration of people not wanting to work. The dream job these days is being an "influencer".  If you can make money taking pictures with your phone of what you are doing throughout your day, why work?

Kay Swatkowski has a quote which states that perfection destroys authenticity. Immediately, my mind drifted to a young woman I follow on Instagram and how exhausting it must be to always be dressed up, hair done, and making the guest list to attend the "right parties" where you take more selfies.

Discussing this "influencer" generation with a group of church ladies I pray with I exclaimed, "Wait!  We are influencers. We've got to see the value in telling our story, even if it's in our pjs without make up."  After these ladies departed I opened my email and stared at this email title from Revive Our Hearts Ministry: "Spoiler Alert-You Are an Influencer."

"On Monday morning, it may be hard to see beyond what's right in front of you:

Your kids slurping up cereal, spilling milk all over the floor.

Your coworker leaning across her desk, complaining about your boss.

Your neighbor standing in your driveway, staring pointedly at your overgrown yard.

If you're not looking for it, you might just miss the moment:

Your kids ask each other for forgiveness - because that's what they've seen you do.

Your coworker decides to change the subject-because she knows you don't gossip.

Your neighbor asks to visit your church-because she's been impacted by your kindness.

Whether she's in the kitchen, in the workplace, or in the community, every woman has influence over those around her."

When you meet together, sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, as you praise the Lord with all your heart. Always use the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to thank God the Father for everything.  Ephesians 5:19-20
