First Valentine
Learning of a single mom who gave birth last week to a baby with complications, today's act of kindness is to send the baby a Valentine and this verse about his heavenly Father's love.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

While email is simple, letter writing is such an encouraging art. Enjoy flipping through the New Testament today and read some of the sincere opening lines of letters of various writers.

We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

Pump it up! Today's act may be illegal, like leaving something in someone's mailbox. The idea is to leave a Valentine, with an encouraging note at the gas pump for the next person who comes along behind me. Hmmm, maybe I better just leave it on the trash can for whomever empties the trash.

Let's compose the note....Some days when you least expect it someone pops up and says, "Smile, you're on Candid Camera." This is not one of those days! Today is one of those days when some random person wanted to be an encouragement to another anonymous person who God picked out as needing to be reminded of the depth of His love for them. That person is you! Worship Him today!
We love Him because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

PS. The UPS man was thrilled yesterday with the reverse giving! He handed me a box from Zappos and I gave him a Valentine and a chocolate!

One of life's deepest hurts is when the one you love is unfaithful. Forty years ago, I remember an older friend, whose wife had been unfaithful and left him for another man saying to me..."Boo, I hope you never experience having the person you love and are married to, living 8 blocks away loving someone else." Deep hurt. They divorced. The wife of another friend of ours was having an affair with a fellow church member and a neighbor of theirs who lived 5 blocks away. She moved in with this man and our friend said one evening he was walking by the house where they were living together and saw them sitting at a table having a candlelight dinner. Ugh. The torment. I've always said it would be aweful to find out the person you were married to and  loved deeply loved another.  Hmm. Are You Sinking... Being Tossed About?

  A text came in from our neighbor recently, on a cold blustery day, when I was home with a stomach bug and awful headache. He said, "My canoe blew off our dock and has floated over to your shore."  And I'm thinking..."And you want me to do what?" I explained my husband was at work, but could help in the afternoon. I went to the window and could see the boat being tossed back and forth along our shore line. One minute it was close to our main dock and the next the winds had shifted and it was 200 feet in the opposite direction.  What I then realized is it had been taking on water. A text came again that he was in his car and driving around to our property.  Climbing out of my night shirt, I put on warm ups, UGGS boots and a hooded coat and limped outside to see how I could help.
